Revitalizing Parks and Public Spaces
In
addition to creating new gardens and
green spaces, Philadelphia Green works to improve the appearance
and vitality of existing public landscapes, both in downtown
Philadelphia and in surrounding neighborhoods. It
currently oversees the rehabilitation and management
of several high-profile
sites, including the grounds
of the Philadelphia Museum
of Art and the adjacent Azalea Garden,
John F. Kennedy Boulevard (from 20th Street to Amtrak's 30th Street
Station), Penn's Landing along the Delaware River, and the 26th
Street Gateway that leads travelers
to the city from Philadelphia International Airport.
Philadelphia Green's Parks Revitalization Project partners with volunteer
groups, the Philadelphia Department of Recreation and the Fairmount
Park Commission to clean, beautify and maintain more than 70 neighborhood
parks (click here for map), making them thriving centers of community life. To join or start a neighborhood park group, or for info about upcoming volunteer opportunities, call 215-988-1611or email parks@pennhort.org.
